..."Why, I ask you earnestly, need we go on making commonplace little
exposures of subjects may sorted into groups of landscapes, portraits, and figure studies ? Think of the joy of doing somthing which would be impossible to classify or to tell which was top and which the bottom!...
Alvin Langdon Coburn, 1916
Colours of Water
"Colours of Water" shows what the color of water represents from different
points of view. The subjects in this project were chosen to show the concern
and astonishment Marco van Middelkoop felt about places he visited during
three journeys through the USA and Mexico.
During the first journey Marco was inspired by the visual appearance of the
different locations. Later, he became more and more fascinated by the origin
of the "art-scapes". How were they created and why? The different perception
made the literal appearance of water disappear from the photographs to be
replaced by elements that visualize the cause and consequence the colours
of water convey.
